- 2 drops rosemary oil
Tools Needed

- Dropper for essential oils
Why Castor Oil for the Carrier Oil?
To safely use essential oils, they must always be diluted. But instead of use any old carrier oil, we’ve selected castor oil for natural eyelash growth serum because it’s a natural promoter of hair growth. Can’t really get any more obvious than that!
But castor oil also moisturizes and promotes healthy skin and hair and nourishes the folicles, skin, and hair – all components of healthy, long lashes.
Why Vitamin E Oil?
Our DIY eyelashes serum wouldn’t be complete without Vitamin E oil, as well, thanks to its power to help regenerate hair and strengthen the hair you already have. When applied to the skin, it helps stimulate the follicles and benefits cell regeneration to grow stronger, fuller lashes, making eyelashes look thicker, longer, and healthier.
Let’s Talk Essential Oils
Now, as we dive into our little DIY eyelashes serum recipe, we should talk about the essential oils we’re using. There are several reasons behind each choice that may not seem super obvious, but they definitely make them winners.
Lavender
Lavender is a powerful essential oil that’s most well known for having calming, soothing properties. Not only does it do this for our moods, but it soothes dry skin and calms down inflammation and helps deal with skin irritation, as well.
It’s also a dark spot and wrinkle reducer.
These are all good things for anything that comes into contact with skin around the eyes.
Cedar
Cedar is another essential oil that we love for many things, but especially anything involving hair growth, because, well, it improves that! It also treats skin conditions, and works as an antifungal and antiseptic. When it comes to our eyes, those are really important to help our vision health intact.
Rosemary
The third essential oil in our recipe is rosemary, which is another hair growth stimulant. It’s also a pain reliever, mood booster, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory that may help improve circulation. Since hair growth may be affected by circulation issues, that’s another reason to include it in your recipe.
How To Make Natural Eyelash Growth Serum
Making your own natural eyelash serum is pretty easy and fast.
Step 1 – Clean your eyelash bottle and brush.
Use gentle soap and warm water to thoroughly clean both the brush and bottle. Let them dry completely before starting the project.
Step 2 – Gather your tools and supplies.
Once the bottle and brush are dry, gather up your castor oil, Vitamin E oil, and essential oils, along with your tools. Lay down an easy to clean mat or dish under your work surface to avoid oils damaging wood surfaces.
Step 3 – Add the castor oil.
Now, place the funnel into the mouth of your eyelash bottle. Carefully measure out the castor oil and pour it into the bottle.
Step 4 – Add the Vitamin E oil.
Next, measure out the Vitamin E oil and pour into the bottle.
Step 5 – Add your essential oils.
Next, with a dropper, carefully put the precise number of essential oil drops into the bottle.
Step 6 – Shake the bottle gently to combine.
Replace the bottom lid and gently shake your eyelash serum. Voila! You’re done and ready to start growing out those lashes.
Notes
Be aware that essential oils are potent and should never come in direct contact with skin or hair. Use the carrier oils to avoid irritations or allergies from cropping up.
Variations
If you’re looking for a gentler aromatic option for your eyelash serum, this citrusy lavender combination is great. It’s not as potent for growth, though, so you may wish to add a couple of drops of either rosemary or cedar in with them to boost the growth power. Smell them together to decide which will best suit your senses.
Lavender
As we mentioned before, lavender has a lot of great benefits for practically anything you make using essential oils. So for this variation, we recommend using 3 drops of lavender.
Grapefruit
Using 2 drops of grapefruit essential oil will help anyone who’s got some skin problems. Grapefruit naturally balances your mood while being antimicrobial and antibacterial – helping skin and hair health – while reducing stress and treating acne.
Lemon
2 drops of lemon will top off this mixture. Lemon promotes healthier skin, relieves pain, keeps you alert, and is an antifungal to help you maintain your healthy, glowing skin and eyelashes.
How to Use Your Homemade Eyelash Serum
Once you’ve mixed up your homemade eyelash serum, use is pretty easy. Just take the wand brush out of the bottle, dragging the sides against the inside of the mouth of the bottle to remove excess fluid.
Then, gently apply 2 to 3 coats to the eyelashes, going all the way up to the roots to promote the growth most completely. Do this two to three times per day.
Beautiful Growth with Beautiful Aromas
This aromatherapy eyelash growth serum DIY is easy, fun, and smells amazing. You’ll just need to have your supplies ahead of time, a clean eyelash brush bottle, and a few simple tools like a small-mouthed funnel.
Be sure to apply the eyelash serum generously each time. Feel free to experiment with any combination of the essential oils we recommend, as well, to find the perfect blend of soothing, stimulating, and calming oils for your personal needs.
