Why These Carrier Oils?
For the best homemade facial serums, we recommend using argan and jojoba oils as your carriers.
Argan Oil
Argan oil is a great choice because it’s a powerful soother for any skin type. It helps you deal with skin ailments, as well, like infections, sun damage, or acne, plus it heals skin wounds, dry skin, and acne. It’s got anti-aging properties, reduces stretch marks, and improves the texture and feel of oily skin.
Jojoba Oil
For deep hydration, jojoba oil does the trick. It softens and smoothes out skin, while giving you that healthy glow.
The long-lasting effects of Jojoba oil also includes the provision of vital nutrients like Vitamins E and B, chromium, antioxidants, and zinc for better skin health all over. Plus, it helps your skin fight off harmful bacteria that can make you ill.
Why Use Witch Hazel?
Witch hazel is a long-known but often overlooked powerhouse of benefits for your skin It helps reduce inflammation and skin irritation, it fights acne, protects your skin from sun and other damage, wards off infection, and generally empowers your skin to feel and look better.
Reasons for These Essential Oils
While the carriers are vital for your essential oils face serum, the essential oils cap off the benefits of any homemade skin care product.
Lavender
You probably already know that lavender is a calming essential oil. It’s also a gentle moisturizer, skin healer for all skin types, and repairs dark spots while reducing wrinkles.
Frankincense
Another great essential oil for all skin types is frankincense. It’s also great for fine lines and especially beneficial for mature and aging skin.
Tea Tree
Tea tree oil is a powerful option you’ll often find in skin care products, whether fully natural or manufactured. The reason? Because it helps heal acne and other skin blemishes, it’s an antiseptic for skin infections and wounds, it soothes skin inflammation, and relieves psoriasis.
Blue Tansy
Pretty much the one essential oil we will always recommend for skin care products is Blue Tansy.
It’s the perfect oil for dry skin, promoting radiant coloring and a healthy balance so your skin feels and looks bright, and smooth every single day. And don’t worry about the coloration of your skin care products. It won’t turn your skin blue!
How To Make Natural Facial Serum
Making your own DIY face serum is super easy and quick.
Step 1 – Clean your dropper bottle and dropper.
Use gentle soap to clean your dropper and bottle. I like to fill the bottle halfway with soapy water, then use the dropper to soak it up and then release back into the bottle a couple of times.
Then, I rinse out the bottle thoroughly and fill it halfway with clean, pure water and fill the dropper up again, and release the water, repeating until all soap is gone.
Step 2 – Gather your tools and supplies.
Once the bottle and dropper are dry, you’ll want to gather up your supplies and tools together. Lay down some kind of protective cover for your surface to prevent any damage by stray oils.
Step 3 – Add the carrier oils.
Now, place the funnel into the mouth of the bottle and gently pour in the carrier oils.
Step 4 – Add the witch hazel.
Next, measure out the witch hazel and carefully pour it into the bottle.
Step 5 – Add your essential oils.
Then, using a clean dropper, drip the essential oils into the bottle, one drop at a time.
Step 6 – Shake the bottle gently to combine.
Finally, replace the dropper lid on the bottle and shake the contents gently to combine. You’re all ready to use your new face serum.
Notes
Essential oils are potent and must be used with carriers of some kind to prevent skin irritation.
Variations
If you’d like to try a different fragrance option for your diy face serum, this floral/outdoorsy aroma is very pleasant and equally powerful.
Rose
Rose oil is a great option for anyone who deals with anxiety, stress, or pain, as it relievers all three of these. It’s also antibacterial and antifungal, which is always helpful in preventing premature aging and dark spots.
Tea Tree
We’ve already mentioned tea tree oil, but as a refresher, it helps with many skin ailments including acne, psoriasis, infections, wounds, and other blemishes.
Blue Tansy
Also mentioned before, blue tansy is a wonderful essential oil for your skin. It helps you get that balanced, radiant glow while moisturizing dry skin.
Geranium
Another potent essential oil for your DIY face serum is geranium oil. It promotes smooth, tones skin and helps oily or dry skin alike feel and look better.
How to Use Your Homemade Face Serum
Gently apply your essential oil facial serum with the dropper to 3 or 4 points on your face, one drop in each spot.
With soft fingerlings, gently smooth the serum into your skin, using only upward motions on your cheeks and chin or outward motions from the center of your face when applying to your forehead or cheeks.
Beautiful Glowing Skin In Minutes
A DIY face serum is the perfect way to moisturize dry, oily, or neutral skin effectively. You don’t need those chemicals used in commercial options, and you don’t have to spend a fortune to fight fine lines and wrinkles.
Instead, apply your natural face serum twice daily, just using a few drops at a time. The recipe is super easy to do, won’t cost much, and will work for just about any skin type, even for folks with acne or psoriasis.
